The Design Of The OMATA One
The OMATA One is the world's first digital cycling computer with a unique, compelling analog movement. It was designed to be as simple as possible to use, while still providing cyclists with a rich set of data from their ride. Simplicity, robustness, restrained design — without restraining what we expect from a digital device.
The OMATA One is encased in an aluminum housing that is reassuringly robust. It has a rotating bezel used for switching modes, USB-C for charging and BLE/ANT+ for pairing to external sensors such as Power, Heart Rate and Cadence with our latest firmware update. A Modern Mechanical Movement
At the heart of every OMATA One is a custom movement developed with Seiko Precision Instruments. Sitting on top of the PCB are four Seiko stepper motors - developed for articulating the auto-focus mechanism and shutters in cameras - that translate the digital data of your ride into analog movement of the hands.
Drop Dead Simple User Interface
There are no lists or menus on an OMATA One. An indexed bezel is all that's needed. A clockwise ration to the RIDE mode initiates the GPS fix, which once established is ready to ride. At the end of a ride, a counter-clockwise rotation back to STOP does what it says, and concludes the session data for that ride. To sync and upload your ride data with our Utility App, a turn to Connect establishes a BT connection with your phone. It's as simple as that.
The OMATA One Utility App
There's just three simple pages to our App:
1. OVERVIEW which shows the cumulative data and current state of your OMATA (eg battery level etc);
2. RIDES which shows the individual rides and allows you to upload to Strava
3. SETTINGS.
You can download the OMATA Utility App from the iOS App Store. Our Android App will be coming soon.
OMATA Custom Numerals
Even in our digital era, analog instrumentation remains the most efficient interface between human and machine and is relied upon to deliver essential information faster and more intuitively. Our products are very precise and designed for enhanced legibility, so we felt it was appropriate to invest in creating a bespoke numeral set that met with all of these requirements.
The best mount in the business.
When we needed a mount for OMATA we partnered with the best K-Edge. Not only are their mounts the best made but are used by the best riders and racers. We designed a custom OMATA insert that fits the full range of K-Edge mounts. Which means, you can attach an OMATA to whatever bike or handlebar you ride.
